Super Easy Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent

This is so easy to make and the prep time isn’t bad either.

1 Bar Fels-Naptha 5 1/2 oz
1 Cup Borax
1 Cup Super Washing Soda
1 or 2 Tablespoons Tea Tree Oil
Water

Shred the bar of soap. Add it to 6 cups warm simmering water. Takes about 5 min.
Pour melted soap and water mixture into a 5 gallon bucket filled half way with hot water. Add cup of Borax and mix. Add cup of Super Washing Soda and mix until everything is dissolved. Add 2 Tablespoons Tea Tree Oil (This is optional). Fill the bucket the rest of the way with water and stir. Place a lid on it and wait 24 hours.
After 24 hours remove lid and stir. It should look like gelatin. Stir to break it up. You can leave it like it is and bottle it or add 5 gallons of water and bottle it. Shake before each use.

I added the extra water because my family tends to think more is better and I want this to last like it should.

UPDATE: I have now dropped the Tea Tree Oil to 1 Tablespoon. I no longer add the extra water to my 5 gallon batch. I do keep a gallon with the added water near my machine for the kids who still think more is better. I also use this to pre-treat stains and it has done wonders on old ones. I suggest using a little baking soda in the wash on stinky clothes.
